What we store on your device, why, and how to change it.
This page is a working draft. It has not been reviewed by a South African commercial lawyer, and the items marked TO CONFIRM below still need filling in. It should not be treated as final.
The short version
Right now this site stores almost nothing. We do not run analytics, advertising or tracking on it yet.
The one thing we save is your answer to the cookie question, so we stop asking. That is kept on your own device and never sent to us.
When we do add analytics, it will be off until you turn it on.
What a cookie is
A small file a site saves on your device so it can remember something. Related things do the same job under different names, like local storage. We use "cookies" to mean all of them here.
What we actually store today

That is the whole list. No cookies are set by this site.
One thing that is not a cookie but is worth telling you
Our fonts load from Google Fonts. That sets no cookie, but it does tell Google your IP address, in the United States, every time you load a page. We are moving the fonts onto our own servers, which removes it.
The categories
If you open your cookie choices, these are what you are switching.
Strictly necessary
Keeps the site working and remembers this choice. Always on, because without it there is no site. No consent needed for these.
Preferences
Remembers choices you make, like your region. Off unless you turn it on.
Analytics
Would tell us which pages get used and what breaks. Counts, not names. Off unless you turn it on. Nothing in this category is running yet.
Marketing
Would let us show you Sleevr ads on other sites. Off unless you turn it on, and it stays off by default because South African law treats cookie-based marketing as direct marketing, which needs your permission first. Nothing in this category is running yet.
Who else gets the data
TO CONFIRM Once analytics or advertising is added, this section must name every recipient, what they receive, and which country they are in. Today the only third party involved is Google, which receives your IP address when fonts load, in the United States.
Your choices
You can change your mind whenever you like. It is as easy to turn things off as it was to turn them on.
- Open cookie preferences and switch anything off.
- Clear the site's data in your browser to reset everything, including your saved answer.
- Your browser can block cookies for every site. Doing that may break parts of sites that need them, including ours.
Your rights
Under the Protection of Personal Information Act you can ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, and object to us using it. You can do all of that through our contact page.
You can also complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa if you think we have handled your information badly. Their details are on inforegulator.org.za.
Who is responsible
TO CONFIRM Registered company name, registration number, physical address and Information Officer. POPIA requires the responsible party's name and address to appear here, and requires the Information Officer to be registered with the Regulator.
Changes
If we add anything that stores data on your device, we will update this page and the date at the top, and ask you again where the law needs us to.
